Welcome to the site.  

A few words about the site.  When viewing paintings please note the colors do
not exactly represent the originals.    The subtleties of oil painting applications
and colors are difficult to capture in digital media.  In addition, one must allow
for the variations between  computer monitors.   Painting dimensions refer to the
unframed size.  This  site includes just a sampling of my work.  A full color catalog
is available if you're unable to make a studio visit.    Information regarding studio
hours, contact numbers, and the location of the studio are listed under the
visiting link.

Upon  visiting the studio, you will find some 30 paintings displayed
both in the studio and gallery.  The gallery also serves as my home.   I have
done my best to insure a comfortable and relaxed environment for the viewing
of work.   Since it is a working studio you will usually find me working,  though I
am  always available to answer questions regarding my work and  creative
journey.  The 2011 season marks the 10Th anniversary of the studio.

Mount Desert Island has been my home for 14 years though I have been
a visitor since the late 1980's.  I originally came to the island with my large
format camera in tow, searching for a certain "something".   I found what I was
looking for regarding light and the topography.  The combination of sea,  
mountain and forest appeals to my senses.   The transition  from large format
photography to painting was a process which took several years.  While I
studied photography, I have been largely self taught regarding painting.  
Presently, I work in oil, intrigued by movement and transitional light.  Elements
within the landscape represent symbols of energy, a common thread in my
vision and resulting imagery.
